About The Clean Machine

The Clean Machine, Inc. was founded in 1981. The first Clean Machine was located in Fredericksburg and operated for one year before the business expanded to Falls Church and Roanoke in 1982. In 1992, the Clean Machine expanded again and opened the Charlottesville location.

At first, the Clean Machine used bristle brushes to clean the cars. By 1985, the Clean Machine decided to change to all cloth equipment to clean cars better. At the time, the Clean Machine was one of the first car washes in the state to use all cloth equipment.

In 1993, the Falls Church equipment was converted from cloth to touch free. The results were amazing! Customers loved the fact that their cars did not have to be touched to be cleaned, and the cars were coming out cleaner than ever before. The Clean Machine quickly converted the equipment in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, and Roanoke to all touch free.

Currently, the Clean Machine operates two locations in the state of Virginia: Charlottesville and Fredericksburg. The Clean Machine Car Wash continues to be the only touchless full service car wash chain in the state of Virginia. We have also branched out to the touchless in-bay automatic business, with nine locations across the state.

The Clean Machine has always been a solely family owned company based in Charlottesville. With over 25 years of experience in the car wash business, the Clean Machine has seen trends come and go. We believe that our goal of providing customers with excellent customer service and a clean car at a great price, all in a touchless environment, will keep them coming back for years to come.
